8:32 pm	Minor Noble Houses While information is scanty on which houses were among the fourteen minor noble houses in 2260, I have been able to piece enough together to give some educated guesses on the various smaller noble houses. These names all come from either B5 episodes or the books written in the series. Let me know if you find anymore information. 2:29 pm	Noble Houses - 2260 The noble houses are the backbone of the Centauri Republic and continue to supply a fresh cadre of leaders for each generation. Since the end of the Xon/Centauri War, the nobles have controlled the destiny of the Republic and maintained their monopoly on power by keeping the commoner and slave classes locked out. While it is not unheard of for commoners to achieve noble rank or to gain a government postition, this event is rare and usually done for outstanding service to the Republic. Because Centauri youth are taught not only to be the best but to also constantly strive for something greater, the halls of the Centaurum and the Royal Court have become a cess pool of intrigue, murder, and betrayal. All the nobles are striving to improve the status of their house or to improve their own personal status. While these nobles are always looking out for themselves, it has not prevented alliances between the houses. Some houses ally because of family ties or service to each other while other houses prefer using money and blackmail to gain allies. Several houses or lords have collected so much damaging information on the other houses that if ever revealed, bring down the entire Centauri government. Londo Mollari of House Mollari is rumored to possess just such a collection of information in his Purple Files. In 2260, the Centauri Republic possessed eleven noble houses and fourteen noble houses constituting 90% of the Centauri nobility. The other noble houses are either too small or elevated commoners. While the minor houses are constantly changing and are never permanent, the eleven "high" noble houses have remained stable for sometime. Some houses have been around since the birth of the Republic while others have only recently achieved high house standing. One thing is certain, there will never a shortage of noble houses willing to strive to become higher houses. One serious mistep or blunder can destroy even the greatest noble house.
